International Recording Artist Michael O. Returns to Headline the 24th Anniversary Greater Portland Festival of Nations While Serving as Festival Director
PORTLAND, Maine – July 24, 2026 – PRLog — The Greater Portland Festival of Nations is proud to announce that internationally acclaimed Afro-pop artist Michael O. will return to perform at this year’s 24th Anniversary Festival of Nations, while also serving as Co-Director of one of Maine’s premier multicultural celebrations.
A celebrated singer, songwriter, educator, and entrepreneur, Michael O. has become a driving force behind the festival’s continued growth and artistic vision. His dual role as performer and Co-Director reflects his deep commitment to creating a platform that celebrates the cultures, traditions, and communities that make Maine increasingly diverse.
Known for his uplifting blend of Afro-pop, soul, gospel, and contemporary world music, Michael O. has captivated audiences around the globe with music that bridges cultures and inspires connection. A graduate of Dartmouth College and founder of NKENNE, the world’s first African language-learning platform, he has earned recognition both as an artist and as a champion for African languages and culture. His work has also included contributions to the Pitch Perfect franchise and performances on NBC’s The Sing-Off.

Now celebrating its 24th Anniversary, the Greater Portland Festival of Nations continues its mission of promoting cultural understanding through music, dance, food, art, and community engagement. Held at Deering Oaks Park, the festival welcomes thousands of attendees each year for a free, family-friendly celebration of global cultures.
Michael O. joins an outstanding lineup of performers representing cultures from around the world, including:
- Nyasia Chane’l – Returning R&B and soul artist making her second Festival of Nations appearance
- Stream Reggae – Returning fan favorites performing authentic roots reggae
- Guy Meets Girl – Energetic pop duo
- Akwaaba Ensemble – Traditional West African music and dance
- Eric LaPerna’s Kalamatianos Band – Greek music and cultural performance
- Additional cultural performers and community organizations throughout the day
This year’s festival also welcomes The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine as the featured guest organization. Families can enjoy an expanded Children’s Area presented in partnership with Love Lab Studio, featuring interactive arts and crafts, face painting, storytime, and creative activities designed to inspire children of all ages.
As Co-Director, Michael O. has worked alongside festival leadership to expand the event’s artistic programming, strengthen community partnerships, and create an inclusive celebration where cultures from around the world can be shared, appreciated, and celebrated together.
