Alpaca Opens Access to German Stocks as Xetra Goes Live for Broker Partners
Alpaca has launched
trading in German equities through Deutsche Börse Xetra, allowing its broker
partners to offer access to one of Europe’s largest stock markets. The development
marks the first phase of the company’s broader plan to expand access to
international equity markets.
The rollout follows Alpaca’s European
expansion announced in April. The company completed
the acquisition of UK-based WealthKernel, rebranded the business as Alpaca
Europe, and said it would begin offering international equities starting with
Deutsche Börse’s Xetra before adding other exchanges.
Xetra Debut Precedes Broader Exchange
Rollout
Through the
integration, broker partners can offer trading in hundreds of German-listed
companies, including SAP, Siemens, Allianz, BMW, Deutsche Bank, Adidas and
Bayer. The companies span sectors such as technology, manufacturing, financial
services and healthcare.
The company said
additional exchanges are expected to follow in the coming months. Planned
markets include the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, London Stock Exchange, Saudi
Exchange, Euronext Paris and Korea Exchange.
Yoshi Yokokawa,
Co-Founder and CEO of Alpaca, said investors “increasingly expect access
beyond U.S. markets.” He added that Germany is “a natural starting
point” for the company’s global equities expansion.
Tokenized German Equities Planned
Through Infrastructure
German equities are
now available through Alpaca’s
platform. The company also said it plans to support tokenized German
equities using the same brokerage infrastructure that currently supports its
tokenized equity offerings.
Alpaca said the latest
rollout supports its strategy to connect traditional financial markets,
tokenized assets and AI-based financial services through a single brokerage
infrastructure. The platform is designed for financial institutions, fintech
companies, digital asset platforms and embedded investing providers.
Commenting on the
launch, Michael Krogmann, Head of Cash Market Business Development at Deutsche
Börse, said Xetra is “the first European exchange” in Alpaca’s
international equities initiative and will provide its partner network with
“deep liquidity and best execution.”
