Bank Holiday Today, July 11, 2026: Why SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Other Banks Closed On Second Saturday Of Month?

All Indian banks will be closed on July 11, 2026, as this is the second Saturday of the month. It has been over a decade since RBI’s unique weekend holidays for banks have come into effect. The weekend rule is that banks either be private, public, regional, local or cooperative, will all be closed on two Saturdays of a month, while they will be open on the rest of the Saturdays.

Bank Holiday On July 11, 2026?

Since September 2015, RBI has directed that all scheduled and non-scheduled banks – public, private, foreign, cooperative, regional rural and local area banks – will observe public holiday on second and fourth Saturdays.

If there are five Saturdays in a month, banks will be open on the fifth Saturday.

Second Saturday Bank Holiday

That said, July 11 is second Saturday of the month. Accordingly, all banks will be closed. This also means mega giants like State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Union Bank Of India, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank and Bank of Baroda branches will also be closed across the country.

What Is Not Working On July 11?

Due to banks being closed on July 11, a host of payment systems will not be operational. These included Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT), Cheque Clearing operated by various Bankers’ Clearing Houses in the country including the grid based Cheque Truncation System (CTS) and ECS suite [Electronic Clearing Service (ECS), Regional Electronic Clearing Service (RECS) and National Electronic Clearing Service (NECS)].

Bank Holidays In July 2026

Indian banks will have a total of 12 holidays in July 2026. These holidays will vary from city to city. In the current month, banks will be closed due to special occasions like MHIP Day, Beh Deinkhlam, Ratha Yatra, Death Anniversary of U Tirot Singh, Kharchi Puja, and Drukpa Tshe-zi.
