The arrival of positive news this month for investors that buy single-family homes in the US will come as welcome news for insurers too.

The newly enacted 21st Century Road to Housing Act stripped away an earlier provision from the Senate that would have required some investors to sell homes within seven years of purchase. Restrictions on institutional buying had the potential to scupper a lending
