MMI London panel to put clients at centre of succession planning

How advice firms can protect clients when owners step back or leave the business will be examined at Money Marketing Interactive London 2026.
The panel, titled Putting clients first when planning your exit, will explore what responsible succession planning looks like when client outcomes, rather than business valuations, drive the process.
Succession planning remains a challenge for many advice firms, particularly those built around one or two key individuals.
Without clear arrangements in place, the departure, illness or unexpected absence of a founder or senior adviser can create disruption for clients and uncertainty for employees.
The panel will consider how firms can reduce their dependence on key people while preserving the culture, service standards and relationships that have supported their growth.
Speakers will also discuss practical ways to embed client-first thinking into an exit strategy, alongside the business continuity plans firms should have in place before a transition becomes necessary.
The session will feature: Amyr Rocha Lima, managing director of Strategic Wealth Partners; Hayley Rabbetts, head of Evergreen at Calton; Natalie Kempster, chief client officer at Purposeful Group; and Tom Hegarty, chief executive of SimplyBiz and chair of the Apprenticeship Trailblazer Group and New Talent Alliance.
It will be chaired by Money Marketing senior reporter Tabitha Lambie.
MMI London returns on Tuesday 6 October at etc.venues County Hall in London.
The programme will focus on the future of financial advice and the forces reshaping the profession.
Other sessions will cover simplified advice, consolidation, geopolitical instability, talent shortages and the growing use of artificial intelligence.
The event will bring together advisers, regulators, investment specialists and industry leaders through keynote presentations, panel discussions, debates and workshops, with an emphasis on practical insights for firms navigating regulatory, commercial and client pressures.
