MMI London panel to examine AI risks for advisers

The risks, limitations and regulatory implications of using artificial intelligence in financial advice will come under scrutiny at Money Marketing Interactive London 2026.

The panel, titled AI – The Limitations and Repercussions, will explore how advice firms can benefit from the technology without exposing clients or their businesses to unacceptable risks.

AI is increasingly being used to support meeting notes, client communications, data analysis and administrative processes.

However, advisers remain accountable for the suitability and accuracy of the advice they provide, regardless of whether technology played a role in producing it.

The discussion will examine what happens when AI generates inaccurate or misleading information, where liability may sit and what firms need to consider when introducing the technology into regulated processes.

Speakers will also consider the limits of current AI systems, the governance and oversight needed within advice businesses and how firms can demonstrate responsible use to regulators.

The panel will feature: Alan Gurung, co-founder and chief executive of Advisory AI; Aytekin Can, head of data strategy and management information delivery at Foster Denovo; Madeleine Debney, co-founder of Otto; and Tessa Lee, co-founder and managing director of Moneyinfo.

The session will be moderated by Kimberley Dondo, digital content manager at Money Marketing.
