Canadian fund assets hit fresh highs for a third straight month in June
On assets, balanced funds remained the largest mutual fund category at $1.192 trillion, followed by equity funds at $1.121 trillion, bond funds at $339.4 billion, money market funds at $64.9 billion and specialty funds at $64.6 billion.
ETFs
Equity ETFs dominated June net sales at $13.126 billion, up from $8.733 billion in May and well ahead of the $3.912 billion recorded in June 2025. Bond ETFs added $2.440 billion, balanced ETFs brought in $1.357 billion and specialty ETFs added $692 million. Money market ETFs saw net redemptions of $142 million.
ETF assets by category at the end of June stood at $589.7 billion for equity, $165.2 billion for bond, $51.1 billion for balanced, $41.3 billion for specialty and $36.2 billion for money market.
The back-to-back-to-back monthly gains have widened the year-over-year comparisons considerably. Mutual fund assets are now up close to 18.7% from June 2025, while ETF assets have grown by roughly 49.2% over the same 12-month period.
SIMA’s direct survey data covers approximately 87% of total mutual fund industry assets and approximately 84% of total ETF industry assets, with estimates used to fill out the remainder for comprehensive industry totals.
